Throughout its history, the Algerian Cinematographic Center has had the honor of hosting some of the world’s greatest directors, including Kousa Gavras, Senban Ousmane, Youssef Chahine, Salah Abou Seif, Nicolas Ray, Jean-Luc Godard, Joseph Stanberg and Jacques Audiard.
National and international awards have been given for various achievements and contributions.
This diversity and the importance of the center’s film activity have earned it a prestigious place on the international stage.
- In the 1980s, our center ranked second in the world, after the Cinémathèque française, for the quality and number of films shown (3 films per day in all rooms without interruption).
- This institution organised the Mediterranean Film Days in the 1980s (now the Mediterranean Film Festival) as well as the European Film Days in the 1990s.
